Sleep is one of the most important components of your health and fitness and yet so many of us are challenged in this area.
Dr Matt Walker runs a sleep center in California. At his facility, he runs sleep deprivation experiments by reducing his subjects to 6 hours of sleep. REDUCING TO 6 HOURS! Many of the people at the gym will admit to never getting more than 6 hours regularly. Millions of Americans are affected by this deficit. At Walker's facility, they report 70% reduction of physical performance, memory retention and cognitive performance at these levels. SEVENTY PERCENT!
Good sleep is vital for all kinds of functions. We know that people lacking good sleep will increase weight due to a chronic increase in A1C (rolling 3-month average blood glucose levels) which, regardless of nutrition, can result in pre-diabetic levels of blood glucose and insulin. This is not good at all.
So how do we improve this vital function?
