Head Coach Jase Robinson is the owner of Deathproof CrossFit  and founder of Trionic Human Performance Inc.

After 25 years of science, travel, engineering, business and adrenaline sports, Jase finally found the single activity which blends all of those passions together into a love for one super-complex discipline in the form of Ironman Triathlon.

Originating from Darlington, England, a mechanical engineer by profession, Jase came to the United States to learn to BASE jump.  With a sports background in soccer, track and field, martial arts and equestrian eventing and an affinity for the risky, dangerous and extreme, Jase had given up long ago any idea of endurance sports.  This certainty was mostly due to his experience with running injuries which included 3 tibial stress fractures and a handful of cases of lower leg tendinitis as well as a fibula, badly broken in a skydiving landing that wasn't supposed to involve a gopher hole.
After a brief, unintended period of "bulking up", Jase took to triathlon in an attempt to get back into shape with the initial goal of completing an Ironman triathlon.  His experiences and attempts to solve triathlon related problems using his engineering expertise coupled with an innate love for learning new skills has resulted in a broad professional skill set and knowledge base of the kind which rarely exists in one organization let alone in one individual.

"If you're not the best at anything, become the best at everything."

By his own admission, an athlete of singularly unimpressive ability, Jase has found ways to continue his own athletic performance improvements.  By leveraging knowledge, science and a lot less discipline than he admits to finding in most of the athletes he coaches, he would complete several Ironman 140.6 and 70.3 races per year including, the 2011 70.3 World Championships in Las Vegas.  Jase maintains that sound methodologies and virtuoso technique executed well on an athlete of average ability usually result in better performances than those of a talented athlete with insufficient knowledge and direction, particularly when something goes wrong.  It is this premise which led him towards CrossFit.

The first CrossFit workout Jase ever did was during his instructors certification.  The workout left him crushed and humbled as he had his butt handed back to him by many of the women on the course.  In fact, his immediate thought was that given how hard it was, and given that he had just completed Ironman Arizona 3 months earlier and considered himself to be very fit, that perhaps CrossFit was not for him.  However, he was so inspired by the ability and professionalism of the CrossFit HQ certification staff that he embarked on an orgy of research and education which he has continued to this day by searching out the best coaches in the business and spending time learning from them.

One of Jase's more recent challenges has been recovering from a 2015 motorcycle wreck caused by a truck driver disregarding a stop sign and pulling out in front of him.  The 55 mph impact resulted in the truck spinning a full 180 degrees, a 40 foot unaided flight, a 40mm pubic symphysis diastasis, a centerline hernia, torn rectus abdominus, internal bleeding, amnesia and a nasty scratch on his right shin (not quite as bad as a failed box jump) all of which required him to be airlifted to the Indianapolis Methodist Hotel.  Despite experiencing excellent service, he can still be heard complaining about the room rate in the trauma center.  He is of the opinion that such relatively minor injuries sustained in a crash that would have certainly killed most people were due to the capacity of his "combat chassis".  "There isn't anything about having a 485 lb deadlift, 425 lb back squat and a 2:32 Fran time that doesn't contribute to making you somewhat deathproof".  That concept crystallized the mission of the gym so well that in February of 2017 the name of the gym was changed from CrossFit Retaliation to Deathproof CrossFit.

Unfortunately, his sense of humor has shown no sign of improvement since the wreck and we fear he may be a bit of a dick for quite a while longer.  This symptom predates the wreck by several decades.
